As I write this blog, there are only 9 days until we reach the 7th month of the year and before we know it we will be counting down from 10 and ushering in 2012.
The first week in January is the time when millions of people around the world set Goals and resolutions such as to join a gym, open a business or write a book but many people never achieve their Goals. There are many reasons why people don’t achieve their Goals and some of the reasons include fear, lack of motivation, not writing their goals and procrastination.
As a Life Coach, many people I coach struggle with actually writing Goals down because they feel it’s either too big or too small so their Goals never get accomplished due to indecisiveness. To achieve your Goals you need to see what you desire and what you want to achieve. You need to shut everything down that can be a distraction around you and close your eyes so you can visualise the achievement of your Goal. Once you see the accomplishment of your Goal you then need to write it down. The importance of writing down your Goals is that any time fear or doubt creeps in your mind, seeing your Goals written down will automatically increase your self-belief and determination and with that you will remain in the atmosphere of success. Always speak your desired end because even though you might be far from the finishing line, speaking and seeing your victory is a necessity in achieving your Goal.
Someone once asked me is there a secret to achieving Goals? I replied there is no secret but you should never give up. Never give up is a powerful statement with only three words but in regards to achieving your Goal giving up is not an option.
If you were to write down why you have not achieved your Goals within the last 6 months, what would be the common factor? Procrastination, fear, low self esteem or are there other factors? Whatever the factor was it needs to be addressed so you don’t go into the remaining months of 2011 with the same mindset as before.
For the remaining 6 months of 2011 you need to surround yourself with like minded people who consistently write and achieve their Goals. People who consistently write and achieve their Goals are Eagles so as an Eagle never surround yourself with people who are not going anywhere and want to remain in the comfort zone because you will never see a pigeon soaring high with an Eagle so once you understand this truth, your friendship will determine your flight.
I will leave you with the following statement for you to ponder on: A person, who systematically writes, thinks, speaks and acts on their Goals will see a rapid and direct change in their level of achievement and in turn see an increase in the output of Excellence, even if they were once a person of average and non-accomplishment. © O. Well said, blessed by these words, started a cleaning business but was giving up because I have given out my cards but yet to get a response but the word you shared on not giving up is well said thank you so much I ‘d not give up on my dreams
Thank you Nancy, do remember to pick up your copy of my book, it will give you all you need in regards to your goals.
Even in the bible we are told to write our vision down. That is so true to get out of average and doing OK set goals. The part you mention about eagles as well. Birds of a feather flock together so to soar like an eagle you avoid chickens and their way of life.
Well written. Thank you!
