As an entrepreneur, I quickly realised on this journey of distinction, not everyone wants to go where I’m going, but to be fair, I’ve met people that once I tell them the possibilities and opportunities in becoming distinguished, they cant wait to board the flight called excellence on route to destination distinction.
VISION
One of the ways to discern if people are excited and energised about where you are going is when you talk about your vision. If you’re about to launch a new vision, it could be a product, service or a new job and those around you don’t celebrate but rather ask you why you are doing what you are doing then give 100 reasons why it won’t work, these are the people who you should depart from. When I say depart, you might have to limit your time and what you share with them. Can you imagine you’re about to start a new job and your closet friend, rather than talking about promotion and new possibilities talks about job cuts and bad managers? The result could be you will never maximise your full potential because at the back of your mind, you’re only thinking about job cuts and how bad your manager might be rather than distinction and new possibilities. One of the things I’m grateful for is my two closet friends who I share my visions, hope and possibilities with, and vice versa. My distinction comes from the fact that instead of having a 25 foot dream turned into a 5 foot nightmare, our 25 foot dreams are made endless by our mutual encouragement, empowerment and excitement.

EXCELLENCE
On this journey of distinction, you have to be 100% committed to constantly raise the bar of excellence. Not everyone will be happy you are a person who understands the truth about excellence and some will try their hardest to discourage, disagree and even disown you because you are standing with excellence. To be fair, you will either stand on the platform called distinction or, slump in the comfort zone called mediocrity, truly, the choice is yours. The truth about excellence is once you start the journey called distinction, going back to a life of mediocrity is impossible, why? You’ve actually seen the possibilities in becoming distinguished.

If you find yourself in a position where the people around you are not celebrating the milestones in your journey of distinction, it is critical you find a way to spend as little time in conversation with them as possible. I’m not saying hate or disrespect them but truly, who has your ear determines what you hear, see, believe and actually achieve. On this journey of distinction, you will either surround yourself with people who have no vision residing in the comfort zone or people who have a clear and defined vision who love rising in the zone called distinction.
