Greetings to you, I trust you are having a great time wherever you are around the world.
Over the last few weeks, I have met many people who say that 2013 is going extremely fast and they don’t know where time is going, I’ve also had clients who say that they remember January 1st 2013 like it was just yesterday. To be fair, on writing my latest blog post, January 1st 2013 was exactly 202 days ago.
We are in July and certainly before we know it, we will be saying “happy new year” etc etc. For me, time is one of the most precious commodities out there in fact; I believe time is more precious than oil, silver, gold, lead or other minerals. Every human on planet Earth, white, black, young, old, rich and poor have many things in common but one we thing we all have in common is time.
In one day there are 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, 86,400 seconds and countless opportunities. As a keynote speaker, I deliver keynote presentations titled: How to effectively manage, master and maximise your time™ where I teach the listener to understand the necessity of managing their time as well as the results from managing or not managing their time. The transformation of people’s mindset and understanding concerning time management has been very humbling.
I’m not a betting man but I can guarantee that every great entrepreneur you admire; Sir Richard Branson, Aliko Dangote and Onyi Anyado are masters of their time. If you want to become a reference point of excellence to your generation it is vital you understand the essence of time management.
Excessive social media usage doesn’t help people to manage their time and just the other day, I noticed that one of my Facebook ‘friends’ was posting more regularly than ever. Don’t get me wrong, I post on Facebook every day but after deciding to visit this person’s page, I realised that they posted every hour for 19 hours non-stop, 19 hours!!! Then after an obvious 5 hour sleep, the cycle started again and it was another 19 hours non-stop. I was like wow!! Social media if not used correctly can be a real time killer.
I’m going to set you a goal. I want you to write what you did in the last 24 hours. The reason being is, if you sleep for say eight hours and you go to work for nine hours, this means you have seven hours ‘free time’. Seven hours!!! That’s a lot of hours and free time. So with all this ‘free time’ on your hands, will you invest it or waste it?
Do you know those who manage their time become master’s of time while those who misuse their time become mastered by time? © O. Anyado 2013.
